Far and wide:  private company investing

Alexander is an investment manager in the Private Companies Team. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2015, and before joining the team, was an investment manager in the Global Alpha and European teams. Prior to joining the firm, he previously worked for Rio Tinto Alcan as a Process Engineer and Project Manager. Alexander graduated BEng in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University in 2012 and MSc in Management from the University of Edinburgh in 2015.

Leo joined Baillie Gifford in 2021. He hosts the firm’s Short Briefings on Long Term Thinking podcast and is also one of our editors. Previously, he was the BBC’s technology desk editor, leading the online team and working on a series of Panorama documentaries. Additionally, he has worked on the broadcaster’s World Business Report and Newsnight Scotland programmes.
