Baillie Gifford is not what I expected it to be before I joined the firm as a summer intern in 2022. Yes, I expected the work to be exciting and complex. But I thought it would be a stereotypical financial company—stiff, formal and closed-minded in its outlook.
Making meaningful contributions
One of the things I’m proud of is my participation in a project as part of the External Web Team. This team is responsible for maintaining Baillie Gifford’s websites. It continuously develops and releases new features and functionality, enabling other teams to design website content.
The project was to clean up an essential area of the website so that it would be easier for users to navigate and for developers to keep it clean in the future. It was great to be able to get stuck in on something as important as that during my first rotation and know I can move on to the next rotation having made a long-term contribution to something.
Please note that any references to current teams in bios are as of the time of writing and may not reflect the current situation due to the rotational nature of the programmes.
