Client manager programme

Invest in a new career with our client manager programme.

Applications will open on 4th February 2025.

What we look for

We seek individuals who are curious, engaging, resilient and adaptable. These qualities, combined with effective listening and communication skills, are key to success in the role. Join our team and become a central point of communication between a diverse, global client base and Baillie Gifford. You will simplify complex information, build relationships internally and externally, and problem-solve.

Financial services experience is not necessary to become a client manager. From parents returning to work, to professional rugby players, to those with backgrounds in academia, the charity sector and law, we see potential in a wide range of candidates.

Successful client managers will exhibit the below skills and attributes:

Relationship building

This role is all about relationships, both building and maintaining. You will show that you understand clients’ unique needs and build trust and credibility by anticipating and addressing potential issues and opportunities.

Communication

Being able to communicate confidently, clearly and engagingly is key. You will be able to take complex information and distil it appropriately for your audience, both verbally and in writing. You will listen actively to gain a deeper understanding of client needs.

Adaptability

Our business is constantly evolving, requiring flexible and adaptable individuals who are comfortable with occasionally being uncomfortable. You will be proactive in pushing yourself to experience new challenges.

Curiosity

Being successful growth investors means seeing potential and opportunities where others might not. You will be curious about a wide range of factors which could influence the potential growth of our investments. A desire to learn more and to share those learnings is essential.

Our shared beliefs

These are the five principles that guide us every day, defining the culture of our firm. Two directly relate to our diversity and inclusion (D&I) aspirations. They are:

  • Our firm must be an engaging and progressive place to work
  • Our actions and behaviours should support society as a whole

We seek to set a positive example as an investor, an employer and within our communities. We aim to uphold and promote the highest standards and, in doing so, enhance the investment industry’s reputation.
