Training and development

Live projects

We will give you the complete working experience, helping you to put your theory into practice and truly understand what a career in technology could look like. You’ll get the training and support you need to broaden your skills, establish your career path, and discover your future potential.

Knowledge

Following your induction, you and your fellow interns will work together on a live technical project for the firm. What’s important is that you’ll be responsible for the entire lifecycle – from initial brief to project planning, programming, testing and delivery. We’ll ensure you spend quality time with colleagues to allow them to share their knowledge with you.

Make connections

Teamwork is an essential aspect of life at Baillie Gifford. This internship is your chance to see how software projects work in our large Information Systems department. Running alongside your project, you will have a range of development opportunities with other teams in the department. This allows you to build up your network across the wider teams.

During your first few weeks,  you will be given opportunities to meet others, learn more about our 'Agile' project management working environment and see how other teams put 'Agile' methods into practice. You will also gain insights into quality analysis and development procedures by seeing the work of testers and developers first-hand. By the end of the internship, you will be able to connect the dots and see where your future technology career may lie.

Support

We ensure you have the support and tools to become fully immersed in your internship. From building relationships with our experienced technical and business leads to connecting with our graduates and working with your buddies and manager, there will be plenty of time given for you to develop while learning from colleagues.

I’ve been impressed by how much Baillie Gifford aims to develop its people, in all aspects. There's been a great mix of both technical and professional skills training.
