What does Baillie Gifford do?

We are an independent investment manager founded in Edinburgh. Much has changed in our 116 years, but our focus on seeking superior, long-term investment returns for our clients has not.

We aim to find game-changing companies and other assets that can sustain growth and remain resilient in a changing world for decades to come.

Philosophy and values

Finding the small number of companies with outstanding potential takes time, rigour and resource. We source ideas by building relationships with exceptional entrepreneurs and forward-thinking academics who lead us to look in promising places.

What makes us different?

Being Edinburgh-based gives us stability and perspective, but we are truly global in our investment approach. We accept uncertainty, look through the financial markets’ short-term noise and are, above all, patient as we seek opportunities on your behalf.

Responsible investment

We believe companies that contribute usefully to society are more likely to thrive over time. And we can play a role by supporting management in pursuing long-term goals.

Diversity and inclusion

Fairness. Equality. Openness. These principles form the backbone of diversity and inclusion at Baillie Gifford, where we want everyone to develop and maximise their potential.
