Overview
The Responsible Global Alpha Paris-Aligned Fund aims to provide returns comprising capital growth and dividend income over the long term by investing primarily in global equites which are listed, traded or dealt in on Regulated Markets worldwide. The Fund excludes companies from certain industries using a sector-based screen, and also companies which do not comply with the requirements of the United Nations Global Compact Principles for Business. In addition, it commits to having a weighted average greenhouse gas intensity lower than that of the MSCI ACWI EU Paris Aligned Requirements Index.

Managers
Malcolm MacColl
Malcolm has overall oversight of our investment departments. He joined the company in 1999 and became managing partner in 2021. He is also an investment manager in the Global Alpha Team.
Spencer Adair
Spencer is an investment manager in the Global Alpha Team. He has been an investment manager in the Global Alpha Team since its inception in 2005 and Monks Investment Trust since 2015. Spencer is a co-manager of International Concentrated Growth Strategy. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2000 and became a partner in 2013. Spencer has also spent time working in the Fixed Income, Japanese, European, Emerging Markets and UK Equities teams. He graduated BSc in Medicine from the University of St Andrews in 1997.
Helen Xiong
Helen is an investment manager in the Global Alpha Team. She joined Baillie Gifford in 2008 and became a partner in 2020. In addition to Global Alpha, Helen has spent time working in our Developed Asia, UK, US Equity Growth, and Emerging Markets Equity teams. She graduated BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Warwick in 2007 and MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge in 2008.

Custody
Custody of assets, particularly in emerging markets, involves a risk of loss if a custodian becomes insolvent or breaches duties of care.
Emerging Markets
The Fund invests in emerging markets where difficulties in trading could arise, resulting in a negative impact on the value of your investment.
Foreign Currency
The Fund has exposure to foreign currencies and changes in the rates of exchange will cause the value of any investment, and income from it, to fall as well as rise and you may not get back the amount invested.
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
The Fund invests according to sustainable and responsible investment criteria which means it cannot invest in certain sectors and companies. Additionally, the Fund employs carbon screens which means it cannot invest in certain companies. The universe of available investments will be more limited than other funds that do not apply such criteria/ exclusions, therefore the Fund may have different returns than a fund which has no such restrictions. Data used to apply the criteria may be provided by third party sources and is based on backward-looking analysis and the subjective nature of non-financial criteria means a wide variety of outcomes are possible. There is a risk that data provided may not adequately address the underlying detail around material non-financial considerations.
