About the speakers
Financial Journalist
Cherry has over 20 years’ experience working for a range of national, consumer and trade titles including The Times, Financial Times, The Telegraph, The Independent, Interactive Investor, Forbes and Investors Chronicle. She has co-authored a book on investing in emerging markets and is a six-time winner of the Investment Management Association’s Freelance Journalist of the Year award and eight-time winner of the AIC Freelance Journalist of The Year award. She began her career as a tax accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, before moving to investment bank J.P. Morgan.
Praveen is an investment manager in the Japanese Equities Team. He is manager of the Japanese Smaller Companies Fund and the manager of related Japan Small Cap Strategy segregated accounts, the Shin Nippon Investment Trust, and deputy manager of the Baillie Gifford Japan Trust. He is also a founder and member of the International Smaller Companies Portfolio Construction Group. He previously worked for FKI Logistex before joining Baillie Gifford in 2008. Praveen graduated BEng in Computer Science from Bangalore University in 2001, and completed an MBA from the University of Cambridge in 2008.
